The OshKosh Close Support Tanker entered service with the RLC in 2005. It is a highly mobile vehicle that is deployed in the Logistic Support Regiments and Transport Regiments and forms the backbone of the Orange Army’s bulk fuel and water transportation. It has deployed on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and can be fitted with enhanced armour for driver and crew protection.

Demountable Rack Off-load and Pick-up System

Length: 9m
Width: 2.5m
Height: 3.5m
Speed: 75 kph (road), 25 kph (cross country)

The Foden and Leyland DAF Demountable Rack Off-load and Pick-up System (or DROPS) forms the backbone of the RLC’s stock transport capability. It is a highly versatile system that can pick-up and off-load up to 15 tonnes of stock that has been preloaded on a flatrack (a steel framed load platform). This pickup or off-load, which can be completed in under 1 minute, allows a swift re-supply of combat forces and means that the vehicle itself can be re-tasked while the stock is unloaded from the flatrack. The two variants (the Foden Improved Medium Mobility Load Carrier (IMMLC) and the Leyland DAF Medium Mobility Load Carrier (MMLC)) are both in service with the RLC.

It is a powerful yet rugged vehicle that can carry vehicles or loads up to 72 Tonnes at a maximum speed of 80 Km/hr on the road. On operations RLC units will use this vehicle to transport tanks and other armoured or heavy vehicles from the ports up to the combat units.
